The lab for week 1 of CIS 363 was an exercise in basic site design and HTML instructions. I was challenged to create a simple 4-page website. The four pages consisted of a
- Home Page
- Education Page
- Skills Page
- Portfolio Page
The assignment tested my ability to create a basic website and link the corresponding web pages. Also, I was tasked to create a Visio diagram of my website. As the weeks progress I will be given the challenges of making the website more comprehensive. The week 1 assignment was a way of getting me used to some of the more fundamental tasks of creating a website. The reading material spoke directly to the assignment so completing the assignment was not that difficult.
Moreover, to supplement the course material I signed up for an account at https://www.freecodecamp.org. The site is awesome since it literally walks you through multiples exercises all aimed at improving your knowledge and skill of web design. Also, there is a YouTube page where you can visit in the event you are having difficulties with a particular module. Furthermore, I joined a forum on Facebook so that I can increase my exposure to web development.
In the upcoming weeks I anticipate learning a great deal. I'm extremely interested in expanding my skill set as it pertains to HTML and CSS I look forward to the many challenges.
