Week 5 CIS363B

This week started well but in the end I continued to struggle as I did in the weeks past. However through the struggles I have learned a great deal. This class has been an excercise in patience and I am learning there are so many ways to tackle a design issue. I have found myself almost or pratically done with a step or assignment only to realize changes need to be made for everything to flow. Figuring out what those changes are typically takes hours for me to figure out. For example, on the home page of my site I wanted to vertically align three pictures with text giving a brief description of the services provided. Initially I used figcaption only to realize that I could not style text in the manner I wanted. Figuring out how to visually get things in order as it related to how I imagined took some time. Eventually I was able through much research of course figure out how to vertically align the text and style it how I wanted to. Below is a screen shot of the banner section of my home page previously mentioned. I was able to figure out how to add the Facebook share button and the twitter and Facebook icons. The icons are small and I will work to enlarge them in the upcoming weeks

Also this week I decided to remove the border on the navigatio bar and change the styling on some of the hovering elements to correspond with the color way of the company logo. When the cursor hovers over the link now the background color changes to white and yellow border with a border-radius appears.

By far the greatest challenge this week was creating the user feed back on the Contact us page of the site. I struggled with figuring how to redirect the submit button to a thank you page. In the end it was simple coding. Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest for me to figure out. I added a nice, at least I think with return confirmation when the clear form and submit buttons are select via onreset and onsubmit events.

Ultimately week 5 was both equally challenging and rewarding. I do feel as though I am making progress.

Thanks for reading
